Visit Delaware with us and take in the beautiful architecture and landscapes of Winterthur and Nemours Estate.
We will start our day with a self-guided tour of Nemours Estate. Nemours Estate is a masterpiece of Gilded Age design with a 77-room Mansion, 200-acres of formal French gardens and grounds, and a Chauffeur’s Garage housing vintage automobiles. Guides located throughout the property will be happy to answer any questions and share information with you.
Then we make out way to lunch at Buckley’s Tavern located in Centreville, Delaware. Enjoy a delicious meal in this former stagecoach stop turned tavern where the past mingles with the present. After lunch, we go to Winterthur – Museum, Garden, and Library. Winterthur is the premier museum of American decorative arts, with an unparalleled collection of nearly 90,000 objects made or used in America since 1640. The collection is displayed in the magnificent 175-room house, much as it was when the family of founder Henry Francis du Pont called it home. Winterthur is also 1,000 acres of protected meadows, woodlands, ponds, and waterways. The 60-acre garden, designed by du Pont, is among America’s best, with magnificent plantings and massive displays of color throughout the year.
